Men Don't Cry

Aaron Marcus

An album of original tunes inspired by eastern North American and northern European dance traditions. Guest musicians include Hollis Easter on flute and voice, McKinley James on cello, Andrew vanNorstrand on guitar, Sam Sanders reading poetry, and Joanne Garton on fiddle.

An easy-going, unassuming musical genius...one of the most thoughtful and melodic songs I’ve heard this year and in the recent past.

Les Jouers de Bon Accord: Music for Scottish Country Dancing

Laura Risk, Nicholas Williams, Eric Breton

Have a listen to this fabulous trio. I can only lay claim to one tune on the album, The Bee’s Knees, written for my fabulous friends Dave Cain and Nancy Turner

Fiddlemaker 2: More Violins of Dennis Alexander

Joanne Garton with Denis Lanctot on piano accompaniment, and lots of other fiddlers

I make music with an award-winning fiddle made by Dennis Alexander. This one, #65, is truly my dream instrument. An unassuming and brilliant craftsman, Dennis makes magic in the basement shop of his house in Aylmer, Quebec, just over the river from Ottawa (which is, incidentally, where I was born). Dennis stopped by my house one summer day in 2014 and recorded me playing a few of my favorite tunes on my absolute favorite fiddle. Contact Dennis to learn more about his fiddles or secure a copy of this album.

Joanne also teaches workshops at music festivals or through music programs such as Young Tradition Vermont and the Summit School of Traditional Music & Culture.
